Plan for the semester

I'm starting the final semester of coursework before diving fully into work to prepare for and complete my dissertation. One of the last classes I am taking will focus on modern conceptions of citizenship. My aim for this class is to review current perspectives on what citizenship requires of citizens and what role schools can and should play in the development of citizens. I hope for this to serve as a normative base for my dissertation. Currently, my vision for the dissertation is to perform case study research on a variety of schools to assess their impact on the development of students as citizens. Doing this work requires that I have a deep understanding of the debate about what is required of citizens. I will be using this space to post reflections and thoughts on this work. Of course, it is always possible that some other thoughts might sneak in as well.
